donated anonymously

Mr. Ricker was a long-term, fabled teacher of mathematics and Chairman of the Mathematics Department at NCHS. He spent his entire professional career at NCHS, with a one year sabbatical to achieve his Master’s Degree in Mathematics Education at Wesleyan University under the tutelage of Professor Robert Rosenbaum. He arrived in New Canaan as a young  teacher right out of the University of Connecticut, where he distinguished himself as a scholar and leader. He became chairman of the Math Department and developed it into a highly respected and professional team. Mr. Ricker was revered by his students and still tutor some of their children today.

This scholarship is to be awarded to a senior attending NCHS who excels in the subject of Mathematics and manifests the qualities of integrity, loyalty, authenticity and sense of humor that Mr. Ricker represented each day in every way.
