The Steve Benko Endowed Scholarship was created by Steve’s friends and family. A lifetime resident and longtime Director of NC Parks and Recreation, Steve was instrumental in helping organizations such as the NC Scholarship Foundation successfully hold town-wide events such as the Color Run. So much of what he did enriched and enlivened the town of New Canaan. Steve’s scholarship was created to continue his legacy, and to help a student who shows a commitment to community service.
