Born and raised in New Canaan, Mrs. Monaco was a class of 1997 graduate of New Canaan High School.  She devoted her life to working with children, from her years babysitting in town, to teaching religious education classes at St. Aloysius, to her 20 years as an educator at East School, ten of those years as a beloved kindergarten teacher.  Mrs. Monaco always had a smile to share with her class and with her colleagues at East School.  She had a special gift for seeing the good in others and bringing out the best in them as well.  

This scholarship was donated by the East School Social Committee.  The candidate will exude positivity, demonstrate empathy, be a good listener and care for and advocate for others.
