Jack Dempsey Award

This award was established by the Ceresa Family in honor of Kevin "Jack" Dempsey with the support of the Marine Foundation and Jack's friends.

Jack transferred to NCHS in 1997 as a member of the Class of 1999. After overcoming several personal hurdles, Jack graduated with the Class of 2000 and attended the University of Connecticut. The tragic events of September 11, 2001, fueled his life-long determination to join the U.S. Marine Corps. Jack was killed in action during the battle for Fallujah (Iraq) on November 13, 2004. His actions on the day saved the lives of several Marines on his mission. The award is presented annually to the student who most exemplifies the qualities of heroism, loyalty and sacrifice in the face of adversity.
